The Smith Family - Learning for Life Program 

In January, 2009, IONIK Consulting officially became involved in sponsoring the Learning for Life Program which is run by The Smith Family.

The Smith Family, www.thesmithfamily.com.au, is an independent non-profit organization which works in partnership with other caring Australians to help disadvantaged Australian children and their families.

At the centre of their work, and the heart of the organization, is their belief in the power and possibilities of relationships.  For disadvantaged children to thrive, many of whom are growing up in lone parent and jobless households, they need to be connected with, and supported by, an extended family.  That is where The Smith Family comes in.

IONIK Consulting, Perth, is sponsoring 3 students, at the following educational levels:

• 1 in Primary School;
• 1 in Junior Secondary School; and
• 1 in Senior Secondary School.

IONIK's Global Business Director, Mark Linton, said "We are extremely pleased to be involved in such a worthwhile and much-needed program".

Dave Olsen, IONIK's Global Technology Manager, attended The Smith Family's Annual Awards Ceremony on 10 March, 2009.  The Awards Ceremony featured Learning for Life Graduates, many of whom were the first in their family to pursue higher education.  Commenting, Dave said, "It was a great night and a wonderful opportunity for both the Graduates, Sponsors and members of The Smith Family to meet and get to know each other".
