A message from the CEO of the new Wood Group Kenny Organisation
I am pleased to announce, with effect from 1st March 2010, the unveiling of our new Wood Group Kenny (WGK) organisation which is a business unit within John Wood Group PLC (“Wood Group”). WGK will provide a cohesive specialist engineering and management capability supported by an enhanced technology focus. Firstly, let me tell you about the structure and rebranding of the new business unit.
In this new structure, renowned riser specialist company MCS becomes MCS Kenny; leading flow assurance and process optimisation company Multiphase Solutions Inc. becomes MSi Kenny; and together with the existing J P Kenny business, these three will collectively be referred to as Kenny Group. The main focus of Kenny Group will be to provide a seamless service for the design and management of subsea facilities, pipelines and marine renewable energy projects worldwide. Backed up by a full suite of unique in-house specialist software, our comprehensive subsea capability includes riser, mooring and vessel interface design for floating production systems, world class flow modelling and complex analytical solutions for the most harsh environmental and process conditions.
In addition to the above, we have created a new company also within the WGK banner, combining the integrity management and materials engineering talents previously provided through Ionik and MCS, under the new name, Wood Group Integrity Management, or WGIM. This new company will provide all-of-asset integrity assurance founded on its extensive materials engineering resources, service life prediction experience, inspection management expertise and state of the art in-house software. WGIM and Kenny Group will work closely together to provide Integrity Management (I/M) services throughout the life cycle of subsea and pipeline projects from concept through to abandonment, and in addition, WGIM will work closely with other Wood Group sister companies to deliver I/M solutions for a wide range of Onshore and Offshore Assets.
WGK now stands at more than 1600 personnel, located in fourteen permanent offices worldwide, and very shortly all WGK companies will co-locate into joint offices around the globe, providing a close-knit, technology-based delivery service from all locations.
We believe that this new structure will give us the launch pad to grow in strength and depth over the next 5 years, and will provide our customers with a more streamlined, easily accessible business in the future. Kenny Group will continue to evolve in its core areas as it tackles the growing number of subsea developments around the world working in the most challenging and hostile environments from ultra deepwater to the arctic.
An important feature of the new Wood Group Kenny organisation will be its even greater commitment to the ongoing development and application of new design and analysis technologies, or “tools of the future”, while remaining independent of all proprietary equipment and solutions. As evidence of our commitment, we have appointed Kieran Kavanagh as our new full time Technology Development Director, and we will be doubling our own internal investment in technology over the coming years. With MCS Kenny as the technology delivery vehicle for WGK, Kieran will be responsible for new and ongoing joint industry R&D initiatives, as well as steering the course of our own internal investment. The new organisation also simplifies the path for transferring technology innovation across into live project applications.
In the weeks and months ahead, my executive management team and I will be happy to meet with you at your convenience to discuss our new business in more detail, particularly to explain how your local WGK office is structured. Though there are very few management changes within our new team, we will also be glad to introduce and reaffirm the key people many of whom you already know. Please let us know if you wish to avail yourself of such a meeting with us.
I am excited about this new development, and I am committed to making it work to the long term benefit of our customers.
Yours Sincerely,
Steve Wayman,
CEO, Wood Group Kenny
