IONIK Consulting, ("IONIK"), part of international energy services company John Wood Group PLC ("Wood Group") www.woodgroup.com, has been awarded a contract by EOG Resources to carry out a risk assessment and develop an integrity management plan for a 35 mile condensate pipeline and associated riser that runs from its Pelican Platform to a tank storage facility on shore. EOG has also requested that IONIK reviews the potential of non-invasive methods for assessing the condition of the pipeline, thus minimizing the operational risks involved in the running of ILI tools.
The integrity study involves the review of the design, operating and inspection data for the pipeline system; produce inspection plans for the pipeline and riser that use the most appropriate inspection methods for the failure mechanisms considered to be a threat; and target inspection resources where they would be of the greatest benefit.
IONIK will develop a specific risk based assessment scheme for the pipeline-riser system and will finally develop a rigorous monitoring program, including the identification of key performance indicators.
